The friends had a very active morning, engaging in play that included:
-buzzing around as bees in the dramatic play bee hive
-playing "Up The Ant Farm" game
-painting personal creations
-building with kapla blocks
During circle time, the Red Room friends sang "Two Little Hands, Ten Little Fingers". Then they listed to the story "Counting in the Garden" by Kim Parker. After the friends watched and listened as Mrs. Bee, the puppet, taught the friends the "Waggle Dance" learning that it is how the bees communicate to each other where to locate pollen, that it is like giving directions. The friends then took turns sharing a dance move with each other.
The Blue Room friends listened to the story "Rosie's Walk" by Pat Hutchins. Then the friends took turns pretending to be bees flying to flowers. They discovered that the pollen sticks to them, by watching as the tape represented how the pollen clumps to the bees legs to form a pollen basket. After the friends had a taste of honey on crackers.
For snack the friends enjoyed bagels with cream cheese. After both the Red Room and Blue Room friends took a walk to the pond, where we observed a turtle sunbathing on a rock while another went for a swim. We spotted many frogs along the ponds edge. The friends were delighted to observed a frog up close, after Mr. Salinetro successfully caught one! After taking time to look at the frog's details, we cheered as the frog leapt back into the pond.
