Just like the sunshine through our windows, the friends were beaming with excitement for our special end of the year show and tell. But, before the friends could share their special something they took part in free choice play that included:
-piecing together puzzles
-drawing with various different markers and adding details with tape
-using glue and loose part materials to create one of a kind artwork sculptures

The friends were full of joy today!

For circle time, Ada's Daddy came and showed us some really cool colored wands to change the light on a flashlight. We saw prisms and saw how they bent the light to create rainbows. It was just how rain creates the rainbow we see when sunlight shines through the raindrops. It was really fun!

We had fun with the dramatic play area in the Red Room as we played with the barn, the houses, and the tree house.

It seems like yesterday we were greeting the Red Room and Blue Room Friends for the first time! Time flies by when you are having fun! As we began our last week together in the three’s program, we delighted in our favorite school year activities, and also highlighted each unit.
The friends began the morning with engaging in lively play that included:
-playdough with flower gems and desert animals

Dear Morning Red and Blue Room families,
Today at The Children's School, our friends...
... enjoyed seeing the large spider we created in the Discovery Area earlier this week hanging from the ceiling between the Red and Blue rooms. We recognized that it was on a pulley and the children took turns lowering and raising it by the rope web!
... shared the spider costume that we worked together to make for the Dramatic Play area.

The morning was filled with energy in the Red Room and Blue Room! The friends began the day with free choice activities that included:
-painting with bright colors
-helping to stuff a spider costume the friends have been creating with Mrs. Loomis
-adding pipe cleaner "hairs" to our large spider for our bulletin board display
-building with brick blocks and driving trucks around the buildings
-creating ice cream play dough creations

- We sang, "Two Little Hands", "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" "Spiders have EIGHT!"
- We talked about spider's "hair" and how they molt - "Shed off hair when they grow too big"

Today the friends began their exploration on spiders. They filled the day with various spider activities and more! The morning free choice included:
-using stamps and bright ink to create flower artwork
-building homes for ladybugs
-tiptoeing on the giant tape spider web and then wrapping bugs in yarn to pretend that we were spiders spinning bugs in silk
-creating with playdough and small popsicles sticks

The friends had a very active morning, engaging in play that included:
-buzzing around as bees in the dramatic play bee hive
-playing "Up The Ant Farm" game
-painting personal creations
-building with kapla blocks

The friends were busy as bees this morning!

For circle time, the red room:
- Enjoyed watching Mrs. Bee, a puppet, attend a "flower pollen" picnic. Did you know that bees collect their pollen in a "pollen basket"?
- Mrs. Armbruster let each child buzz their bee toward the flowers to collect "pollen" (jello mix) with their "pollen basket" (sticky tape).
- We sang "Bumblebee (Buzz, Buzz)"
